| Akron's
oldest law firm, Roetzel & Andress
has renovated and moved into the landmark building once occupied by the M. O'Neil Co.
department store. The store, on the banks of the Ohio & Erie Canal, closed its doors
in 1988, and the 800,000 square foot building was donated to the city. After the $30
million renovation on the O'Neil's building, Roetzel & Andress moved from its East
Market Street offices to be next to Canal Park in the heart of downtown, on Main Street.
The renovation took off half a million square feet from the building to create an area for
a 600-space parking deck. Tenant space is now 290,000 square feet, including an atrium.
While the law firm occupies most of the building, the lower two floors are being developed
for restaurant, entertainment and retail operations. |
