| The City of Akron Department of Planning and
Urban Development is in the process of developing a plan to encourage re-development in
the Hickory Street Corridor and surrounding area. A
series of meetings for area residents, business owners and property owners has been
scheduled to share views and opinions on the area. This website is designed as another way
to exchange ideas and views about the area. Updates, notes from meetings and photos will
be added as the discussion proceeds, and your comments are welcome in the Planning Guest
Book (offline). If you have any questions about the meeting, please contact Kurt
Mulhauser at 330-375-2090, or KMulhauser@AkronOhio.gov
While the Hickory Street corridor between Memorial Parkway and North Street is
the primary project area, areas extending along Silver Street out to Aqueduct on the west
(including Doyle, Valley, Gold and Nickel) and along North Street and Howard Street will
also be considered. Future plans for Elizabeth Park and the Cascade Locks will have a
dramatic impact on long term planning in the surrounding area.
