Number of Housing Units Per Acre

  • Lower housing densities are mostly found on the western, northern, and northwestern borders of the City, and in industrial/commercial corridors.
  • Medium housing densities predominate in: 1) the area west of the Central Business District, north of I-76, and south of West Market Street; 2) East Akron in Goodyear Heights and Ellet; and 3) the area roughly bounded by East Market Street on the north, Arlington Street on the east, Waterloo Road on the south, and Grant Street on the west.
  • Higher housing densities are concentrated in areas nearest the city center in older residential neighborhoods.
