(08/19/09) - Since the morning of August 17,
2009 the Akron Fire Department has responded to six suspicious fires in vacant dwellings
in the north Akron area. The Akron Fire and Akron Police departments are aggressively
investigating all of these incidents. While it appears that these fires have been
deliberately set, they all remain under investigation and no final determinations have
been made. At this time we cannot definitively link the fires, even though they have
occurred in the same geographic area of the city.
Investigators are following up on any and all leads and are canvassing the neighborhood
seeking additional information. Anyone that might have information is encouraged to
