An Akron Neighborhood
Celebrating Community
Edgewood Village welcomes new and old residents home. |
| (09/15/08) - The Akron Metropolitan Housing
Authority's Board of Trustees cordially invites the public to join Mayor Donald L.
Plusquellic as he presents the key to welcome the first resident, Maggie Jones, into
Edgewood Village on September 15th. The Press Conference begins at 10:00a.m. in the Marian
T. Hall Community Center, 760 Edgewood Avenue, followed by refreshments and open house
tours of Edgewood Village from 11:00a.m. 1:00p.m.
The former Edgewood Homes, razed last year, was Akrons second oldest public
housing development. The transformation into Edgewood Village provides Akron with a
vibrant, thriving neighborhood that enhances the accessibility to community services and
amenities. As an Akron neighborhood celebrating community, Edgewood Village offers 2, 3
and 4 bedroom town homes and single-family homes, designed with spacious floor plans,
architectural details and spaces that bring families together. Neighboring the Akron Zoo,
the Helen Arnold Community Learning Center the Akron Urban League and downtown Akron,
Edgewood Village provides convenience and opportunity to its diverse community of
residential and commercial renters and homeowners.
"As a landmark for this community, Edgewood
Village is more than a place to live. It offers opportunity for family growth,
neighborhood support and community partnerships. It is the beginning of a bright future,
rich with possibilities," said Anthony OLeary, Executive Director of AMHA.
"This opportunity was made possible through the partnership of the Akron Metropolitan
Housing Authority, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Akron, the
Ohio Housing Finance Agency, the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing and numerous other
private and non-profit organizations."
Parking for the September 15th Press Conference and Open House is conveniently
available at the Akron Zoo. Shuttles will be provided to and from Edgewood Village. Please
