Hydrant Flushing Notice |
| (07/02/08) - The Akron Water Department will
flush fire hydrants in the South Akron area beginning approximately Sunday, July 6, 2008,
and will also continue to flush fire hydrants in the East Akron area. The Water Department
will be flowing hydrants from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday nights to
reduce the inconvenience to the public. The South Akron area is bounded approximately
by:
- E. Exchange Street to the North
- Waterloo Road to the South
- Burkhardt Avenue to the East
- Firestone Parkway to the West
The East Akron area is bounded approximately by:
- Newton Street to the North
- Joy Avenue to the South
- Massillon Road to the East
- McGowan Street to the West
As discoloration to water is likely to appear, we would appreciate any and all radio
and television announcements and newspaper articles so as to alert the water users and the
traveling public. In particular, we urge the water users to check their cold water for
discoloration prior to drawing water for cooking and for use in automatic washers and
dishwashers. If discoloration is found, the water user is advised to discontinue use until
water clears. Customers can call our automated phone system to get a nightly update on
streets that are to be flushed by dialing 330-375-2554, selecting Frequently Asked
Questions and following the prompts. Water customers can also log on to www.ci.akron.oh.us and select News Releases to get the latest hydrant flushing
updates. Should the water user have any questions or need assistance, they are advised to
call 330-375-2420. |
