| (10/16/07) - The Akron Health Department will
be holding our flu vaccination clinic on Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Flu
vaccinations will be available by appointment and will cost $20. We will bill Medicare
Part B insurance (as primary insurer), SummaCare Secure, Buckeye Health Plan, CareSource,
Medicaid, Unison, and Hometown Health Plan. The City of Akron’s 311 Call Center will
be scheduling all appointments and will be providing information about the clinic. The 311
Call Center can be reached by simply dialing 311 from a regular phone or 330-375-2311 from
a cell phone. Flu vaccines for children 6 months to
18 years of age are available at the Health Department’s Merriman Road Clinic. Flu
shots for children under three years of age will cost $7.00 for the pediatric vaccine; all
children 3 years old or over will need to receive adult vaccine, at a fee of $20.00. There
will be no charge for children covered by Medicaid or Medicaid HMO. Parents or guardians
must bring the child’s immunization (shot) record, as well as a Medicaid or Medicaid
HMO card, if applicable.
The Akron Health Department’s Merriman Road Clinic is a walk-in clinic (no
appointment needed) that is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 3:30
pm., but is closed between 11:30 am-12:30 pm during lunch. The Merriman Road Clinic is
located at 66 Merriman Road, near the intersection of Merriman Road, West Market Street,
