Free Food, Games for Everyone to Enjoy

Also present (L-R) Ed Pearce First Communications, Summit County Executive Russ Pry, Akron City Council President Marco Sommerville and Akron Public School Superintendent Sylvester Small. The Urban League headquarters is connected to the soon-to-be-open Helen Arnold Community Learning Center (elementary school).

WHAT: Akron Urban League Grand Opening Community Celebration

WHEN: Sunday, August 19 from 2 to 5 p.m.

WHERE: 440 Vernon Odom Blvd. – on the grounds of the new facility

WHO: Open to the public

EVENT DETAILS: Free food, vendors, and plenty of games and activities for everyone to enjoy. Live entertainment includes Marilyn Rivers and The All-Star review. Activities include inflatables, games, mascots, face painters, balloon artists, cartoonists and much more!

Several organizations will be on hand to provide information about the services they provide to the community.

FACTS: A $5 million capital campaign chaired by Ann Brennan and Marco Sommerville financed the new 38,000 sq. ft. facility. Designed by Moody Nolan Architects, Columbus, OH. Construction manager: Welty Building Company, Akron. Features include President’s Hall, 500-seat capacity banquet and meeting hall; Onsite catering service; full-service child-care center; computer labs; and meeting space.
