Water Main Break
(06/11/07) - The City of Akron is working on
repairing an 85 year old water main that broke late last night in Firestone Park. Due to repair work
today, some customers may have discolored water for awhile today. Public Utilities Manager
Michael McGlinchy suggests residents in the affected area (see map - 172k jpg)
refrain from doing laundry until the water clears. It is, however, safe for drinking.
The break occurred at Highbrook and Steiner avenues. As part of the repair, the
line is drained and refilled. The refilling process often times stirs up sediment in the
pipes that can produce water that resembles the color of iced tea.
