In 1999, Akron Community
Foundation joined the City of Akron Department of Planning and Urban Development in the
Neighborhood Partnership Program, a grant plan for community revitalization projects
initiated and operated by neighborhood organizations.
Approximately $200,000 of City of Akron and Akron Community Foundation funds are
available to neighborhood based organizations annually. A requirement is that neighborhood
organizations must match the NPP grants with in-kind volunteer services, as well as cash
contributions.
Jody Bacon, president of the Akron Community Foundation said, "The generosity of
our contributors has made this possible for nearly a decade now, and it has made a
wonderful difference in the quality of life in this community."
