The
Akron Public Utilities Bureau provides water and sewer service to almost 300,000 people in
Summit County. The service area affected by today's announcement includes the cities of
Akron and Fairlawn and Village of Mogadore. Portions of Cuyahoga Falls, Bath, Springfield,
Copley and Coventry townships are also included.
The Akron Public Utilities Bureau delivers door tags to approximately 3,000 customers
each month. The tags provide notice of water disconnection within 48 hours if customers do
not pay their bill. Approximately 750 customers each month experience water disconnection
due to non-payment of their bill.
Service Director Jerry Holland said that Monday, December 11th was the last day the
bureau delivered water disconnection door tags this year. Thursday, December 14th was the
last day for water service termination due to non-payment this year. The City will resume
delivery of door tags and disconnection of water service due to non-payment on Tuesday,
January 2, 2007.
