| (07/13/06) - The "Taste of Akron"
will kickoff the 27th annual Akron Arts Expo on Thursday, July 20, 2006 from 6
- 9 pm. The event will highlight local restaurants in our community and surrounding
areas. The Howard Street Blues Band will provide the night's entertainment.
Admission is free, with food samples available for $2, $4, and $6. More

330-375-2836. Additional sponsorship for the "Taste of Akron" are provided
by American Wood Reface. In The Taste of Akron, the
City of Akron Recreation Bureau and sponsor West Point Market will be releasing the names
of the more than 20 participating restaurants and the names of the semi-finalists of the
Hearty Salad contest.
The public was offered an opportunity for the
non-professional chefs of our community to submit original recipes. The
semi-finalist will be judged at The "Taste of Akron" by a panel of judges and
chefs. The winner will receive a $200 gift certificate to West Point Market, and the
winning salad will be served in the West Point Market deli.
The following night Friday, July 21 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm will be the 8th
annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction. This event is a fundraiser for the Akron
Arts Expo Children's area and artist's awards. Tent hosts are The Spa at Glenmoor
and Akron Life & Leisure Magazine. Tickets are available for $40 presale and $45
at the door with both Visa and MasterCard accepted. The event features over 60 wines
and beer from around the world, hors d'oeuvres, and fabulous items up for auction donated
by the Expo artists, sponsors, and local businesses, with an original Don Drumm signed
illustration and Goodyear Blimp ride highlighting the items.
The auction will go live for 15 minutes for these items with Brooks Ames of Kiko as our
auctioneer. A live jazz band will provide the evening's early entertainment. For tickets

The weekend will end with the 27th annual Akron
Arts Expo on July 22 & 23 from 10 am - 6 pm. Over 160 juried exhibitors, live
entertainment, great food, a children's area and free shuttle service will continue to
attract over 30,000 people. The Ohio Ballet will perform on Friday and Saturday 8:45
pm. The City of Akron and Time Warner Cable are proud to present the Akron Arts
Expo.
