| PROVIDENCE, RI -- Nestor, Inc., the parent of
Nestor Traffic Systems, Inc., a leading provider of advanced traffic safety solutions, is
pleased to announce the implementation of an automated speed enforcement program for the
City of Akron, Ohio. The first two of four PoliscanSpeed Systems were deployed yesterday
in an effort to provide more consistent enforcement of speed limits in targeted areas
throughout Akron. William B. Danzell, Chairman of Nestor traffic systems, stated,
"We are excited to partner with the City of Akron on such an important safety
initiative. We believe that the unique ability of PoliscanSpeed to capture violations on
limited sight roads makes it the most effective system for Akron's automated enforcement
program. This technology, coupled with our turnkey processing services will allow the City
to provide consistent enforcement without burdening City resources."
Strongly supporting Akron's implementation of the Automated Mobile Speed Enforcement
System, Mayor Donald Plusquellic quoted, "Nestor's PoliscanSpeed System is another
tool that we can use to let our community know that speed limits will be enforced and that
we are serious about ensuring safety in our neighborhoods."
Nestor Traffic Systems (NTS) provides automated traffic safety solutions to state and
municipal governments. Our goal is to deliver effective solutions for intersection and
roadway safety. We currently offer CrossingGuardŽ, a turnkey solution which helps
customers reduce red light running and intersection collisions through automated
enforcement, and PoliscanSpeed, a laser-based photo speed enforcement system designed to
reduce the number of speeding vehicles on public roadways, including school zones and
construction zones.
We are the exclusive North American distributor for Vitronic's PoliscanSpeed, the
industry's only scanning LIDAR, capable of tracking multiple vehicles in multiple lanes,
simultaneously. An industry first, the scanning LIDAR mobile speed enforcement system is
an innovative solution for digital speed detection and image recording. The scanning
capability of the PoliscanSpeed system minimizes the ambiguity and measuring errors
associated with conventional photo speed enforcement systems.
