| Mayor Don Plusquellic announced the City of
Akron's proposed award of $555,000 in Community Development Block Grant Funds to be
distributed among local agencies to assist local residents in the housing development
areas of the City. These funds come from an entitlement to the City by the U. S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development. The
proposed grant awards are to thirteen agencies. The legislation for approval of these
grant awards will be introduced at City Council on February 11, 2002. Proposed grants are
for the following services:
