Mayor Don Plusquellic has accepted an invitation from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Washington D.C. to participate in a forum on urban neighborhood revitalization next week. The invitation was made by ULI Chairman J. Ron Terwilliger and William Hudnut III Senior Resident Fellow, ULF/ Joseph C. Canizaro Chair for Public Policy. ULI is the nation's leading real estate and land use research and education organization. The forum, which is expected to meet for at least two years, holds its first session October 20, 1999.

Mayor Plusquellic said today, "I feel honored to have been selected to take part in the Forum on Urban Neighborhood Revitalization. Because of the experience I have gained through the work we have done rebuilding our neighborhoods, I think I bring valuable experience to the discussion."

The forums are designed to bring ULI membersCtop real estate developers, analysts, financiers, planners and designers, public officials and academics in the country -- together with other top-level experts and practitioners who will explore issues of land use. The 40 or so forum members are hand-picked from the leading private, public and non-profit organizations to ensure a cross section of the key land use and real estate decision makers.
