John W. Valle became Deputy Service Director for the City of Akron March 1, 2006 after serving as clerk of Akron City Council since 2001.

It was in 1984 that Valle was first elected to city council in Ward 1. Five years later, he was appointed to fill an at-large seat on council, and was subsequently elected to three four-year terms.

From 1996-98, John Valle served as president of council. He also had chaired the council parks & recreation, public utilities, public safety, planning and rules committees. In 2001, prior to Valle becoming the clerk of council, he had become the longest serving council member with 17 plus years.

As Deputy Service Director, Mr. Valle is responsible for oversight on operations of the City of Akron Bureau of Public Works, facilities maintenance, off-street parking and traffic engineering

Valle, who came to the City of Akron in a full time capacity from the private sector, had managed several Acme grocery stores in the Akron area for more than 27 years and was in a management position at the North Hill, Kenmore, Ellet and West Market Street stores.

Valle is a member of the North Akron Baseball Association; St. Vincent St. Mary’s Adult Booster Club and also serves as vice-chair of the District 8 Summit County Infrastructure Policy Committee.

John and Jenee Valle have been married for 25 years and have two sons: John, 21 and Joey, 19. Mr. Valle is a life long North Hill resident and 1974 graduate of North High School. He also attended the University of Akron from 1974 thru 1976.
