John Moore joined the City of Akron Planning Department in
1983 as an Intern and has held numerous positions in that department including Zoning
Manager. In 2008, he was appointed by Mayor Don Plusquellic as Director of Planning and
Urban Development. As the City’s Planning Director, John was responsible for
Akron’s neighborhood development issues.
In December 2012, John became the Service Director. As
Service Director, he oversees the Engineering Bureau, the Public Works Bureau, the Sewer
Bureau, and the Water Bureau.
John graduated from The University of Akron with a
Bachelor’s Degree in geography and planning. He is a member of the Summit County
Planning Commission and the City Akron’s Downtown Operations Group. He is also on the
Information Technology Steering Committee.
John and his wife Karen have three children. |
