John Moore was zoning manager for the City of Akron before
being named Director of Planning and Urban Development in 2008.
He joined the planning department in 1983 as an intern and has held numerous positions
in the Department of Planning and Urban Development over the past 25 years.
As the city’s planning director, Mr. Moore is responsible for Akron’s
neighborhood development issues.
John graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree in geography
and planning. He is a member of the Summit County Planning Commission and the City of
Akron’s Downtown Operations Group. He is also on the Information Technology Steering
Committee.
John and his wife Karen have three children and he is a member of the Moose Lodge, the
Summit County Sportsman Association and is a coach for the Ellet Youth Basketball
Association.
