The Springfield-Akron JEDD consists of
approximately 1,200 acres of business-zoned property located in Springfield Township,
including areas along South Arlington Road, Canton Road, Gilchrist Road, Massillon Road,
and Waterloo Road. Most of the property in the Springfield JEDD is developed, but some
vacant land does exist for new business, commercial, or industrial development.
This JEDD became effective in 1995 and operates under a two-party
agreement between Springfield Township and the City of Akron. Properties within the JEDD
have access to water service from Akron and sanitary sewer service from Akron or Summit
County. An income tax of 2.25% is levied in the JEDD.
