| Land Use / Demographics Because land use affects travel patterns, AMATS maintains an
inventory of land use (see 2005 Land Use Map (8,809k pdf)), which the agency uses as a reference
tool in planning transportation improvements. AMATS has completed an inventory of its
study area every five years since 1970. The inventories are comprised of acreages for
residential, retail, wholesale, industrial, transportation and utilities, public and open
space. The inventories also consist of non-residential square footage, population,
employment and auto ownership.
In October 2008, AMATS completed updating and converting
its 2005 land use inventory to ArcView GIS. An inventory is available for the entire AMATS
area. |
