The Capital Planning Division administers the City's program of capital improvements. Areas of responsibility include:

  • Develop an annual Capital Investment Program describing the capital improvements planned for the City including streets, sidewalks, sewers, water lines, parks, public facilities and economic development projects. The program is adopted by City Council by February 15 of the Program year.
  • Identify and utilize available funding sources at the federal, state, regional, and local levels to meet the City's immediate and long term needs for capital improvements.
  • Provide staff for the Akron Development Corporation and obtain funding for continued operation of the Akron Industrial Incubator.
  • Maintain City information on library and City archives.

Q: How can I get my street and sidewalk repaired?

A: Property owners can circulate a petition for public improvements in the block or blocks in front of their property. Contact the Akron Engineering Bureau Administrative Services Division at (330) 375-2355 regarding the petition program.
