CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS AT THE TIME OF EXAMINATION AND AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT.
DEFINITION
This is professional and supervisory work in surveying.
An employee in this class is responsible for individual survey projects performing advanced records research, coordinating and supervising survey party field work, organizing and evaluating survey data, and preparing documents into final certified form.
Works under general supervision exercising considerable independence in carrying out project assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current registration as a professional surveyor with the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors and possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license.
Thorough knowledge of standard methods, practices, computations, and equipment used in surveying work. Considerable knowledge of public works construction, reconstruction, and maintenance projects. Considerable knowledge of state and local control systems for land boundaries and geodetic control.
Ability to organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of subordinate personnel and to train them in all aspects of the work. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective public, interdepartmental, and employee relations. List of essential job functions available upon request.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
This exam will consist of a written test. TEST WEIGHTS: Written 100%. RESIDENCY: The appointee must establish Akron residency within one year of appointment and maintain Akron residency during the term of employment except as provided in Section 106-5b of the Akron City Charter. Candidates who have been resident citizens within the corporate limits of the City of Akron continuously for at least one year immediately prior to the examination will have a 10% bonus added to their passing score. VETERANS, released no longer than three years prior to the date of the examination, desiring a bonus of 10% added to their passing grade must submit with the application proof of their honorable service and the dates served.
NOTE: The written test may be suspended if shown to be impractical because of an insufficient number of qualified candidates. The candidates will then be ranked in a standard manner based on 100% for qualifying.
