"I claim there ain't another Saint as great as Valentine."To honor St.
Valentine, Akron Municipal Court will do more than display hearts and flowers or have
fully-loaded candy dishes at the ready.
Judge Annalissa Stubbs-Williams will take her place as the justice of the peace,
presiding over special Valentines Day wedding ceremonies.
Court Administrator Ken Kuckuck (cook-cook) says theyre expecting 30-40 brides
and grooms to stop in between 9:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. on the 14th of February,
Valentines Day to exchange marriage vows in a simple, quick civil ceremony.
"It takes about five minutes for Judge Williams to perform the ceremony,"
said Kuckuck. "Then, theyre on their way."
This year, Valentines Day falls on a Saturday.
Judge Williams said, "I certainly enjoy this and dont mind opening our court
on a weekend. Its so rare we get to deal with anything joyous, this is something we
welcome doing."
Whatever the newlyweds plan for after the ceremony, it is important that they remember
to first obtain a marriage license by making an appointment and stopping in
