(01/12/09) - The City of Akron will lift its
snow parking ban at 2 p.m. today, according to Deputy Service Director John Valle.Plows
will, by then, have cleared snow from most all residential streets in Akrons 62
square miles.
Nearly 60 crews worked all weekend, beginning Friday afternoon, to salt and plow
Akrons streets during the latest storm. Many of those crews will continue working to
fine tune their work and cleanup some "ragged edges" on city streets to make
them more passable for motorists.
The City asks residents to exercise patience with trash pickup this week, which will be
slowed a bit today and tomorrow due to the remnants of the storm. By mid week, pickup
should speed up.
Anyone who has a medical waver may contact Akrons 3-1-1 Call Center to have a
driveway approach cleared of snow by City crews. Call 311 from any home phone, or 330 375
2311 from any other telephone.
