For the fifth year, Akron will operate the largest seasonal ice rink in Ohio at Lock 3, which hosts concerts during the summer and sponsors the largest and most authentic German Christmas Market in the United States each winter.

The rink opens Friday, November 21 at 11:00am. Rink hours will be extended this season to 10:00pm on weekends.

"In recent years, we have found that closing at 9pm on Friday and Saturday was just too early," says Akron’s Deputy Mayor Dave Lieberth. "We want families to be able to have more time to enjoy the ice this year."

Hours for the Ice Rink this weekend:

  • Friday, November 21, 11am - 10pm
  • Saturday, November 22, 11am - 10pm
  • Sunday, November 23, 11am - 6pm

Akron’s Chriskindl Market officially opens Friday, November 28 at 7pm with a spectacular downtown lighting show on Main Street with a fireball-throwing IMAGE: Chriskindl Market - click for more informationSanta Claus. Hours through the season are as follows:

  • November 29 - Dec 21
  • Tuesday-Thursday, 11am - 9pm
