(08/20/08) - The Akron Water Department will
continue to flush fire hydrants in the Downtown Akron and Kenmore areas.The Downtown
Akron area is bounded approximately by:
- Mayfair Road to the North
- Exchange Street to the South
- Hickory Street to the East
- Portage Path to the West
The Kenmore Area is bounded approximately by:
- Kenmore Boulevard to the North
- Hancock Avenue to the South
- Nesmith Lake Boulevard to the East
- 31st Street to the West
Along with these areas, beginning approximately Sunday, August 31st, the Akron Water
Department will also be flushing fire hydrants in the West area of Akron.
The West Area is bounded approximately by:
- Mull Avenue to the North
- Morse Street to the South
- Packard Avenue to the East
- Collier Road to the West
The Water Department will be flowing hydrants from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday
through Thursday nights to reduce the inconvenience to the public. As discoloration to
water is likely to appear, we would appreciate any and all radio and television
announcements and newspaper articles so as to alert the water users and the traveling
public. In particular, we urge the water users to check their cold water for discoloration
prior to drawing water for cooking and for use in automatic washers and dishwashers. If
discoloration is found, the water user is advised to discontinue use until water clears.
