Homegrown Saturday Mornings at Lock 3 Park
Downtown Akron

(05/23/07) - The Beacon Farmers Market returns to Downtown Akron!

Lock 3 Live!For nine weeks beginning July 28 - - Saturdays will be filled with food, fun, and surprises for the whole family.

The Beacon Farmer’s Market features:

  • Locally grown produce, plants and flowers
  • Hand made items from and for the garden.
  • Home-baked goods
  • Cooking demonstrations from the Beacon’s team of kitchen experts

Homegrown Saturday Morning features:

  • WAKR’s Tom Dayton and his weekly live radio broadcast from 8am - 10am
  • A weekly pancake breakfast, 8:30am - 11:00am sponsored by local organizations
  • A special activity area called "Sprouts" that will stimulate young minds and creativity
  • Weekly tours of Downtown – historic sites, monuments, and markers as well as up-close-and-personal looks at the modern downtown of today
  • Free Trolley rides on South Main, from Spaghetti Warehouse on the south to the Northside Arts District AND Train Station on the north
  • The Akron History Exhibit and Toy Marble Museum, 10am -2pm.Make your own ceramic marbles on the first Saturday of every month
  • Games and activities promoting healthy lifestyles for a fun and family friendly experience

Homegrown Saturday Morning Calendar (6k pdf)

The last time that Homegrown Saturday Morning brought farmers and growers to Lock 3 Park in 2003, attendance was 11,000, without the additional programming and promotions.
