Lock 3 Park’s Holidayfest continues with a variety of events, activities and live music, along with our Chriskindl Market–one of the most unique shopping experiences in Northeast Ohio. Here’s what’s coming up this week at Lock 3:

The largest seasonal Christmas Market between New York and Chicago, Lock 3’s Chriskindl Market features twelve cottages housed by vendors from Akron’s sister city of Chemnitz, Germany selling handcrafted gifts, ornaments, candles, wooden toys and more. The Hutzenstub, a large heated area adjacent to the Market, features a full menu of authentic German food. It’s a great place to take a break from shopping or warm up from the cold. Father Christmas has arrived at Lock 3 Park! Monday through Saturday at 7 pm, and Sunday at 3:30 pm, kids are invited to visit with Santa Claus. Photos with Santa will also be offered for $10. Click here for a detailed press release.

The largest advent calendar in the country! Marking the thirty-eight days between Thanksgiving and the 11^th annual First Night Akron celebration on New Year’s Eve, view the unveiling of a 6’ x 15’ panel decorated by a local school or community group. New at Lock 3 this winter, the Kinderzone offers hands-on crafts and activities just for kids. Families can enjoy everything from sing-alongs with Akron musician Rachel Roberts to special crafts featuring other cultures and celebrations such as Winter Solstice on Thursday, December 21. Each Thursday at Lock 3 Park, celebrations highlighting different cultures will be featured. On Thursday, December 21, the Winter Solstice is highlighted with a special activity in the Kinderzone from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Click here for more info.
