| ComDoc, in partnership with ASW Services and the City of Akron,
is proud to announce the ground breaking of its new 57,000 square foot Remanufacturing and
Distribution Center located at 220 Ascot Parkway in Ascot Park. The free standing building
will sit on 5.84 acres of land a few miles west of Route 8 in north Akron and will
employee 44 people. There is enough land to add on an additional 20,000 square feet
to support future growth. Ascot Park is one of the City of Akrons eight industrial
and corporate parks that have successfully provided land for expanding businesses. The
City is selling the nearly six acres to developer ASW Ascot Park for $116,800. ASW will in
turn lease the building to ComDoc for the new regional facility.
"This is precisely why our corporate parks have proven
to be valuable," said Mayor Don Plusquellic. "Companies located in Greater Akron
who wish to stay here and grow often find there is little room left for expansion. Ascot
Park is helping us retain and attract more jobs to the area. Were pleased we could
help ComDoc remain in Greater Akron."
ComDoc, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2005, is
an employee owned company with 540 partners and sales in excess of $100 million.
Headquartered in Green, Ohio, ComDoc is Ricohs largest independent copier, printer
and fax dealer in the United States. In addition to Ricoh, ComDoc sells and services Sharp
and Kodak products. ComDoc does business primarily in Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, West
Virginia and New York State.
Said Paul DiPronio, the new facilitys General Manager, "thanks to our
extraordinary growth over the past few years, we have outgrown our current Distribution
Center located in Tallmadge, OH. The Ascot Park building increases our total square
footage by almost 50%. More importantly, we have been able to design the
building to accommodate our workflow, which today includes a sizeable Remanufacturing
Center and Parts Reclamation operation, which were not part of our operations when we
moved into our existing space in 2001."
Pending unforeseen circumstances, ComDoc expects the building to be ready for occupancy
by the end of September, with operations transitioning throughout October. The plans
are to make the move into the new building as seamless as possible for both internal and
external customers.
