Lockheed Martin Corporation is using the landmark structure to build a prototype airship for the military. Preparations were still being made to build the vessel to monitor communications in about a year. Click to enlargeThe company says the project will remain on schedule. About a dozen crews fought the fire. Akron fire department spokesman Ed Sturkey says there was no immediate indication of what caused the fire. Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company sold the airdock where it built blimps at least 20 years ago.
