First Night® Akron is Fun for Everyone
The 10th Annual First Night® Akron celebration is Dec. 31, 2005 in downtown Akron.

First Night® Akron is celebrating its 10th anniversary December 31. The family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration will feature more than 70 performing and visual artists on 32 stages throughout downtown Akron, making it a community celebration that truly has something for every member of the family. Admission buttons cost $10 and are available at Acme Fresh Market and participating FirstMerit Banks. Children under 10 are admitted free! Special attractions at First Night® Akron 2006 are listed below.

First Nights that Last
The Akron Beacon Journal and Ohio.com present an incredible exhibit highlighting 10 years of First Night Akron history. See the display at the Akron-Summit County Public Library’s Main Library, Dec. 21- Jan. 5. To have your First Night memories included in the display, submit photos, stories and memories to 58 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44308 or email them to firstnight@downtownakron.com by Dec. 16, 2005. Items will not be returned.

Lights on Main
Main Street will glow on New Year’s Eve! Amazing luminaries created by the students of Lock 3’s Summer Arts Experience and local artist John Comunale will line the street. Other artists featured along Main Street include Carol Adams’ spectacular light sculpture and Michael Wohland’s updated version of the Chinese New Year Dragon.

InfoCision’s First Night Idol
InfoCision Management Corporation presents the 3rd annual high school singing competition. Watch area finalists compete, perform as a group, and welcome last year’s winner for a special performance. The show begins at 5:30 p.m. at the John S. Knight Center.

Chapel in the Moonlight
Love, Laughter & Elegance: Wedding & Event Planning presents "Chapel in the Moonlight" at Main Place. Official wedding ceremonies must be scheduled. Wedding vow renewals take place throughout the evening, so drop in and make this First Night memorable. For more information call 330-762-8555.

Pied Piper Procession to Kids Blast Fireworks Show
Calling all Kids! Bring your make & take projects and join Street Beat Drummers at The Shoppes at Akron Centre (Orangerie Mall) at 8:15 p.m. Show off your artwork as you parade down to the Main Stage for the Kids Blast Birthday Bash & Fireworks Show with Akron Public School’s Gilby and Nana!

Admission to First Night Akron is a $10 button, and children under 10 years old are free. Admission buttons are available at all Acme Fresh Market stores, participating FirstMerit banks, Borders Books & Music (Chapel Hill), The Word Christian Resource Center (Parma & Chapel Hill), Akron Beacon Journal’s Customer Service Desk, The Library Shop on Main, Stage Left Boutique at Akron Civic Theatre, and The University of Akron’s bookstores.
