AKRON MUSICIANS
TAKE JAZZ TALENTS TO GERMANY |
In Akron's sister city of Chemnitz, Germany, the
University of Akron Jazz Ensemble "jams" with German musicians at the Chemnitz
Jazz Festival, the week of September 12. Akron is represented by trumpeter Jack Schantz,
drummer Mark Gonder, bassist Tim Powell, and keyboard player Rock Wehrmann.
Akron's own Jack Schantz Quartet -- all University of
Akron faculty members -- was the headline act at the Chemnitz (Germany) Jazz Festival
September 10.
The Lord Mayor of Chemnitz, Germany, Dr.Peter Seifert
is serenaded by jazz trumpet player Jack Schantz, head of the University of Akron's Jazz
