A new retail and office development is coming
to downtown Akron. Mayor Don Plusquellic announced the plans at his weekly news conference
today.
Partners of
the Main Exchange LLC joined the mayor to reveal plans for the development and
construction of a new class A office condominium building at the southeast corner of Main
and Exchange streets.
Situated on the last available high profile and developable corner in downtown Akron,
the new building will consist of five stories totaling 26,950 square feet with floor plate
sizes of 5,390 sq ft each.
The first floor space will be dedicated for retail and restaurant use with the upper
four floors identified for office use. Two elevators accessed from an atrium lobby will
service each floor.
Designed as an office condominium project, each floor plate will be available for sale
or lease. Condominium sizes will be restricted to 2,700 sq ft or larger. Multiple floor
plates may be combined for larger users.
Parking for the project is readily available by adjacent off street surface parking
with additional street parking on Main Street.
Currently the owners are in lease negotiations with a national restaurant operator for
the first floor and a whole floor office user for the fifth floor. Building design,
architecture and construction documentation will be provided by REM Architects. Leasing,
sales, and project information, will be provided by Capital First Realty, Inc.
