A beautiful new North Hill
Branch Library officially opens Monday, July 19 at 10 a.m. on its former site, 183 E.
Cuyahoga Falls Avenue, Akron.
The public is invited to preview the new structure on Saturday, July 17 from 2 to 4
p.m. during an ICE CREAM SOCIAL sponsored by the Friends of North Hill Branch
Library. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 1:45 p.m. Doors will open at 2

"The North Hill area is rich with heritage, and we are excited to be a mainstay in
this historical community," said David Jennings, interim director.
At approximately 12,000 sq. ft., the new structure will cost around $2,150,000 million
and will create more space for Library programs and services. Moody-Nolan, Inc.
architectural firm of Columbus created the architectural design for the new library.
Summit Construction is the construction manager.
The new North Hill Branch Library will be paid for by taxpayer funds generated by Issue
#4, the Librarys building improvement plan issue approved by voters in November of
1997. The bond issue will fund the expansion or replacement of 15 of the systems 17
branches, and the expansion of Main Library in downtown Akron.
