| Mayor Don Plusquellic is sending a request to
Akron City Council to authorize an agreement to work with the University of Akron to
develop a stronger small business climate in the community. The City and University would establish a Small Business Development Center to
provide consulting and training for entrepreneurs and small businesses that would build up
and grow this burgeoning base of employment for cities across the country.
Mayor Plusquellic said today, "This arrangement has
many benefits. Significant is that it will help in the marketing of ideas and products
that come from the inventive minds of researchers on the U of A campus."
The agreement for the Small Business Development Center
will cost the city $191,500 and require it to provide space for the center inside the
Akron Industrial Incubator. The center had previously been located. |
