| CITY PUTS 51 PLOWS, SALT TRUCKS ON THE
ROAD TO HANDLE SNOW STORM |
| The City of Akron has every plow and salt
truck in its fleet on the streets today battling what could amount to six inches of snow,
if forecasts are accurate. City of Akron Public Works Manager Paul Barnett said this
afternoon, "We are currently using salt brine on the streets and have been since
prior to the storm hitting this area. Our fleet of vehicles is in the best shape it has
been in, in many years. Fifty one trucks are working the roads, and our total staffing
will likely hit around 200 by the time all is said and done this weekend." It is
early in the season, and the City has plenty of salt right now. Barnett says that even if
we needed to buy some, supplies are good. Akron ships most of its salt from Cleveland
where it is mined from under Lake Erie.
