Ganley Toyota is
preparing for a major expansion on East Market Street and is about to get the green light.
The City of Akron has been working with the owners of the automobile dealership,
neighboring businesses and residents to make room for the companys planned growth.At
this Mondays meeting, Akron City Council will decide whether to approve the
Citys purchase of what is the final piece of property that will allow Ganley to
expand its business.
In a voluntary agreement with the owners of a local restaurant, the City has negotiated
to pay $850,000 to acquire the remaining properties. The City will be reimbursed by Ganley
for all costs it incurred in the acquisition.
The property is in an Urban Renewal area of the city and includes Katmandu Restaurant,
seven apartments and a three-bay storage garage all on East Market Street. It also
includes a two-unit apartment building on Johns Avenue and a parking lot at Johns and East
Market.
