| CITY TO DONATE LAND TO ART MUSEUM |
| Mayor Don Plusquellic is asking Akron City
Council to approve the donation of 1.15 acres of land owned by the City to the Akron Art
Museum on East Market Street. The museum is engaged in a long-term renovation and needs to
land for a staging area during construction. It also intends to use the space, after
construction of the new art museum is completed, for various museum-related activities. The
property is in the block bounded by East Market, Summit, Mill and Broadway streets.
Currently, a portion of it is being used for John S. Knight convention center parking. The
City will retain the right to use this parking until the completion of the High/Market
parking deck.
The request will be made of City Council at its next meeting, Monday, December 16,
2002.
