Information regarding chemicals used in Akron businesses and maintained in quantities between 500 and 10,000 pounds is collected and maintained by the Akron Health Department. The Department shares this information with the Akron Fire Department. The Fire Department collects and maintains records on chemicals maintained at any businesses in excess of 10,000 pounds. This information is used to inform and educate employees, the public, and local safety forces as to what chemicals are used and/or stored in any facility located in Akron.
