| Dee Norflee began her career with The City of
Akron in the Recreation Department as a Seasonal Recreation Leader on June 25, 2003, and
became a permanent part-time Recreation Leader on July 24, 2005. Dee graduated from the
University of Akron with a BS in Fine & Applied Arts with a minor in Marketing Sales.
Dee also received her Masters in Sports Science and Coaching from the University of Akron
as well. Dee is very active in the community, and
she dedicates much of her free time to helping Akrons youth become productive and
educated citizens. Dee is an Ellet track coach, a Buchtel High School boys basketball
coach, and a King James Shooting Stars boys basketball coach. When Dee is not coaching,
she is an Academic Advisor at Buchtel High School.
In November, 2011, Dee assisted in the resuscitation of an
individual at the Summit Lake Recreation Center. She applied an AED unit and performed
CPR, and today that individual is doing very well. Her heroic actions caught the attention
of her peers and the community and we are proud to recognize her as the Employee of the
Month. |
