JOHN HAFFORD began his career with the
City of Akron Recreation Bureau as a seasonal at Summit Lake Community Center in 1979. He
continued as a Recreation Leader in 1984 and then in 1985 at Reservoir Park Community
Center where he also started working in the Summer Federal Lunch Program of which he is
now the Administrator for the program. He then moved on to Joy Park Community Center in
1988 and continued on to PPT Supervisor I in 1989 and permanent Supervisor II in 1990. He
was promoted to his current position as District Supervisor III on January 24, 2000.John
graduated from Wittenberg University with a Health and Physical Education Bachelor of Arts
Degree. John was starting offensive tackle for the 1975 Division III National Championship
Football Team.
John grew up in Mansfield, OH but has lived in Akron for the past thirty years. John
and his wife Angela will be celebrating their 30th anniversary this fall. John
has two children, daughter Ebonie and son John II. He also has a daughter-in-law Kristin
and is the proud grandfather of Scentery and Bishop.
John enjoys photography and volunteering for various community organizations.
