| MIKE began working with the City of
Akron as an Electronic Technician on November 24, 1975. HE was promoted to Signal
Technician I on December 7, 1977. MIKE was promoted once again, to Telephone
Technician I on August 3, 1987 and to his current position of Communications
Technician II on November 14, 1994. MIKE is assigned to the Police and Fire
Information Systems group. Known as "The Wire Guy", he provides
connectivity through copper and fiber optic cable to the many computer systems used by
Public Safety personnel. MIKE is also proficient in firewall configuration and
maintenance.
HIS interest in computers and networking began in the late 1980s and grew
as the industry did through the years. In keeping current with technologies, MIKE
brought many new ideas to the work place that streamlined the operation and saved
countless work hours.
MIKE enjoys fishing, working on his computer
and hiking with his wife and grandchildren on the many Summit County Metro Park trails.
Mike also has a fondness for cooking and makes a delightful baked ham. He enjoys retelling
the story of serving with the USMC and making fudge in his helmet while in Viet Nam.
MIKES electronics training, while
serving in the United States Marine Corp., fueled his interest in technology. HE
has such a tenacity to solve new problems. His attentiveness is a personal effort and is
reflected by his purchases of books and equipment out of his own pocket to stay abreast in
such a rapidly changing field. |
