A.J. began his career with the City of Akron on June
26, 1995 as an Engineering Technician I. He was promoted to his present position of
Engineering Technician II on March 15, 1999.
A.J. is single and lives in the valley. He has a
Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Purdue University, and a Juris Doctor
from the University of Akron. He is presently working on his Masters of Business
Administration, at the University of Akron. A.J. enjoys biking and golfing.
A.J. worked on the Firestone Stadium project.
This project required all of the work to begin in January 1999 and to be completed by May
1, 1999. He worked long hours and weekends with the contractors to assure the plans and
specifications were being followed, and to confirm that the project would finish on time.
As the City's |
Resident Project Representative, A.J. was
required to monitor the work of nearly 100 tradespersons on a daily basis to assure that
the plans and specifications were being complied with. A.J. handled numerous change orders
which required him to closely monitor the contractors' operations so that the City was not
overcharged. Two days before the project deadline, there was a request for the infield to
be flattened. This required the construction of a concrete retaining wall and the removal
of 260 tons of infield material. A.J. stayed through the night until the job was done.
